About
Why we built Checklist — and who we are.
The story
Checklist started as a personal frustration. Every todo app we tried was built around the mouse: drag to reorder, click to complete, hunt through menus to set a due date. Switching apps meant taking your hands off the keyboard — breaking the flow that matters most when you're deep in work.
So we built the app we wanted to use ourselves. One where every action — adding a task, completing it, moving it, setting a due date — has a keyboard shortcut. One that feels native on macOS because it isnative, built with SwiftUI and Apple's platform APIs from day one.
What we believe
- Speed is a feature. If capturing a task takes more than two seconds, you'll stop capturing tasks.
- The keyboard is the fastest input device ever made. We treat it that way.
- Simplicity compounds. A focused tool you actually use beats a feature-bloated one you avoid.
- Your data is yours. No ads. No selling data. End-to-end encryption for everything that syncs.
The team
Checklist is built by a small, independent team. We're a group of developers and designers who prefer the command line over the GUI, trust keyboard shortcuts over context menus, and spend too much time thinking about the perfect task manager.
We're independent — no VC funding, no pressure to grow at all costs. Our incentives are aligned with yours: make the best possible tool and charge a fair price for it.
